Here at Bendigo Health, we are very proud of our Maternity Services. The accommodation consists of two-bed shared rooms and three single bedrooms in the pre and post natal area. Each room has shower and toilet facilities and kitchen facilities are also available. The education and settling area has bathing facilities for babies and education sessions are held daily for mothers.
The birthing area consists of eight rooms. Three of these rooms are for labour, delivery and rest bedrooms. These rooms are furnished with double beds and are available to women who have a normal pregnancy and birth. Partners are encouraged to stay and families using these bedrooms may stay up to 48 hours following birth.
As we are a regional facility, we have approximately 1,200 births per year with mothers coming from a very large rural catchment area. We also have a Level 2 Special Care Baby Unit with 8 cots for premature babies; babies born small at term or near term; and babies who have breathing difficulties.
Quality care to our new mums is essential and we need your help to continue this level of care.

Our Emergency Department is located on our acute campus in Bendigo. The Emergency Department sees 3,800 patients each month making it the busiest emergency department in rural Victoria. 1500 patients a month are rated as Category 1 - 3. 600 patients a month are admitted to hospital from the department. The department is staffed by 15 full time equivalent Medical Officers and 40 full time equivalent nurses. It was redeveloped a few years ago and is now located in its own purpose-built building co-located with medical imaging and our 5 operating theatres. It is open 24 hours per day 365 days per year.
We are looking for skilled Div. 1 nurses who would like to work in this challenging and rewarding area. Full time and part positions are available on a permanent or fixed-term basis.
